Why Values Matter More Than Purpose

What we value is everything.

Our values give us the blueprint for how we want to live. In my work, I often hear people say they’re searching for purpose. And while purpose is important, chasing that one big thing you’re “supposed to be doing” can sometimes leave you feeling lost, stuck, or unfulfilled—especially if it never quite reveals itself.

That’s why I believe in living a values-driven life over a purpose-driven one.

Values are what give your life depth, direction, and connection. They help you feel grounded in your relationships, your choices, and your identity. They’re what make you feel good—not just about where you're going, but about how you're getting there. Values are the compass that point you toward a life that feels meaningful, aligned, and fulfilling.

For many people, values are an afterthought—maybe a few boxes checked off during a work or school exercise. But understanding your values deserves more than a rushed checklist.

This is especially true for people-pleasers—those who have spent years internalizing the values and expectations of others. When you're constantly trying to meet everyone else's standards, you end up living a life shaped by someone else's blueprint. And because those values aren’t truly your own, you're often left feeling like you're failing, no matter how hard you try. That disconnect can erode your confidence, drain your energy, and chip away at your self-worth.

In my work with clients, I spend intentional time helping them uncover what truly matters to them—not just what their values are, but why they matter, and how to bring them to life through aligned action. Together, we create a clear, personalized roadmap for building a life rooted in meaning and fulfillment.

If you're ready to explore what truly gives your life meaning—and yes, even purpose—book a consultation and let's get started.
